Engineer and Fulbright Scholar

Benard is a Fulbrighter from Uganda and currently pursuing PhD in Energy Engineering (Renewable Energy Concentration) at University of Massachusetts Lowell. His current research focuses on applications of solar and plasma for chemical synthesis. He is passionate about the utilization of renewable energy in increasing access to electricity particularly in rural areas of developing countries and mitigating climate change and its adverse effects. Benard holds Msc. Physics and Bachelor of Science Education (Physical) from Makerere University and Gulu University respectively. He formerly worked as an Assistant Lecturer in Department of Physics, Gulu University. Benard is also Co-founder of SunTel Holdings Limited, a company which provides solar energy systems and IT solutions in Northern Uganda On the other hand, Benard is also interested in social development. Having lived all his entire childhood in war, Benard is an integral part those who advocate for the livelihood recovery of Northern Uganda. He has been undertaking inspirational talks to children and students; and engaging the community on “what next after the war”. He dreams to make world attain “happy equilibrium”, a better place for everyone!
