August 13, 2021 – For Immediate Release

Rugarama Hospital in Kabale Uganda in conjunction with Heart Sounds US, Inc. provided a much-needed outreach clinic for dental and eye care in Nyanja Village and vicinity. According to Philip Agaba, Rugarama Administrator thirty four people were seen by the dental team with 9 cases referred for more extensive work. Medication was provided as needed, as well as tooth extractions when required.

Eye examinations were provided to 42 people with 3 people needing surgical intervention. Some 28 individuals were given eyeglasses at no cost to them.

Many of the individuals seen in the clinic had not had access to healthcare for some time due to the pandemic, and other circumstances. The biggest challenge faced was that, about 25 clients were not attended to due to a lack of time coupled with the high turnout of individuals who needed services. Plans are underway to return to the village very soon to meet the needs of those who were not able to be seen.  Richard Pulice, President of Heart Sounds US praised the effort and offered continued support for this project.
